

Submarine Cable Design module provides an overview of the design process behind submarine cable systems, from the initial purpose and route planning to capacity requirements, design simulation, laboratory testing, design approval, and implementation.Through this module, learners will understand how technical requirements, system capacity, route strategy, and long-term network objectives are transformed into an engineered system framework. Learners will also explore key design considerations such as preferred route, target capacity per fiber pair, number of fiber pairs, system reliability, and performance validation to ensure the submarine cable system can operate reliably for decades.This module begins with a pre-test to assess learners’ initial understanding, followed by a learning video. Upon completion of the video, learners will take a post-test to evaluate their knowledge and understanding of the module content.
